Converted at 1 USD = NZ$1.70 and 1 AUD = NZ$1.10, and rounded down. The real rate on the day was 1.74, so both choices understate what these tools cost you: the American ones are a little dearer than this column says, never cheaper. The multiples compare like with like, each product's own cheapest ongoing plan against ours.
How these were read
Verified on each product's own pricing, privacy or terms pages on 11 September 2026, and recorded with their sources. Cheapest ongoing plan is the lowest per-month rate each one offers, which for Careerflow and Huntr means paying six months or a year up front. Confidence is not the same for every cell: Simplify publishes its head office in its privacy policy, while Huntr, Jobscan and Careerflow publish no address on their own sites at all, so those come from the trader details each has declared to the Chrome Web Store. Careerflow's is registered to an individual rather than a company, so only the country is shown. Aplicate publishes no address anywhere, and its terms are governed by New Zealand law while its prices are in Australian dollars. JobSparrow is a New Zealand AI career advisor rather than an application tracker, included because it is the other New Zealand product in this space. Teal is not shown: its site refuses automated requests, so we could not verify a current price, and we would rather leave a competitor out than publish a number we have not checked.

James Graham has spent fifteen years building free tools Kiwis actually use. 1.5M+ people a year use the free tools, education, guides, datasets and pathways on Calculate.co.nz. Is it really free if I'm out of work?
Yes. Tick a box, that's it. We don't ask for proof, because treating people with dignity costs less than means-testing would. Paid "On the Move" subscriptions fund it, and we show subscribers exactly that: your subscription keeps this free for Kiwis who need it.
Do you sell my data?
Never, to anyone. It is a covenant, built into how the product works. The only shared layer is aggregate statistics (like what roles really pay in your city) that help every Kiwi ask for the right number. Anonymised salary statistics are on by default; one toggle in Settings turns them off. The covenant, in plain English.
Which job boards does it work with?
All of them: Seek, LinkedIn, ZEIL, company careers pages, or the job your mate texted you about. Jobtracker sits above the boards. We never list jobs and we never compete with the places you search. We're the layer that keeps your side of the hunt organised.
Why is paying annually cheaper?
On the Move is $7.99 a month billed annually ($95.88 a year), or $9.99 month to month. Paying for the year up front gives us predictability, so it gets the better rate. Either way you can cancel in the app, in under a minute.
What is the Work and Income record?
If you're on Jobseeker Support, Work and Income can ask you to show what you've been doing to find work: at an appointment, at your six-monthly reapplication, or every week for a month if you're ever put on Report Job Search. Everything you already log in Jobtracker (applications, calls, interviews) becomes that record automatically, formatted to hand to your case manager.
