Follow-up email after applying for a job

A short, polite check-in for an application that has gone quiet. Fill in the boxes and the email writes itself.

Optional. One specific thing, not a summary of your CV.

What you type stays in your browser. Nothing is sent to us.

Filled in with an example. Type in the boxes to make it yours.

Subject: Following up: Business Analyst application

Hi Rachel,

I applied for the Business Analyst role on Tuesday 15 September 2026 and wanted to check in on where the process is up to.

I led the move to our new reporting platform last year, which your ad asks for.

I am still very interested in the role and happy to send anything else that would help. Thank you for your time.

Kind regards,
Sam Hollis

How to use it

Wait about a week after the closing date, or ten working days if the ad had none. Send it to the person named in the ad, or reply to the confirmation email if there was one.

Keep it to three short paragraphs. One follow-up is enough: if there is still no reply after another week, put your energy into the next application.
